Why do I need a DEC?

To raise awareness amongst the public of the energy used by the buildings they visit.

To encourage good energy management

To provide data to support government initiatives involving reducing carbon emissions such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2006.

Display Energy Certificates are a legal requirement in specified public buildings.

A £500 fine can be given for failure to display a DEC in a prominent place.

Not having a valid Advisory Report can result in a fine of up to £1000.
