How this affects schools

Requirements

DECs apply to individual buildings, therefore each building over 1000m² on a school site needs an individual certificate.

Meter Readings
It is good practice for schools to collect gas and electricity meter readings monthly, at a minimum annually.

Floor Area
The floor area is required for 2 purposes:
To determine which buildings require a DEC.
To determine the energy efficiency based on usage and area.
